Boba, or bubble tea, is typically made with tea, milk, sweetener, and tapioca balls. Originating in Taiwan in the 80s, bubble tea is now a worldwide phenomenon.
While there are many variations of boba, and customers can typically customize their beverage, bubble tea is rarely spiked with alcohol.
Boba POPS is seeking to change that with alcoholic boba pearls. Unlike traditional tapioca balls, Boba Pops are smaller, caviar-sized bubbles filled with flavored liqueurs. Besides adding them to milk teas, Boba Pops are versatile enough to be added to traditional cocktails or as a topping on desserts like ice cream.
To emphasize the nature of these boozy little balls, the name Boba POPS ties it to bubble tea inspiration, and POPS is an acronym for “Pearls of Popping Spirits.” The branding and packaging, made with creative agency CF Napa, reinforce the brand’s boba origins while communicating the product’s distinctive qualities. The logo is kept simple, and the clear jar showcases the tiny, colorful, popping pearls.
In addition to cocktail-friendly traditional flavors like strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, pineapple, and lychee, Boba POPS has just dropped a seasonal pumpkin spice, a perfect alcoholic addition to iced pumpkin spiced lattes.
All Boba POPS flavors are available now at select retailers, bars, restaurants, and BobaPOPS.com.
