Ed Bell Design’s packaging for Desi Daru Vodka blends modern sophistication and Indian heritage, capturing the essence of founders Mohit and Aneet’s dual cultural identity. The bottle design draws inspiration from the domes of Indian temples to craft a distinctive and memorable silhouette. Departing from conventional vodka bottlenecks, the design features a continuous flow up to the gold cap, enhancing the overall elegance. The intentional minimalism in branding allows the striking bottle shape and vibrant color coatings to take center stage.
Bespoke bottle design for Desi Daru vodka. Desi Daru is an ultra-premium vodka brand that celebrates the story of its founders, British born Indians Mohit and Aneet. The brand and bottle design aims to capture the meeting of these two worlds. Modern and sophisticated, with nods to Indian heritage. At the heart of the brand is a bespoke bottle design with a unique shape that is heavily inspired by this story.
The base profile of the bottle takes inspiration from the iconic domes of Indian temples, creating a shape that feels special in the hand and is bold and striking from the front. The neck of the bottle is an intentional move away from the long and narrow style commonly found on many vodka’s, to instead create a continuous flow right up the gold cap adding to the overall elegance of the design.
To pay homage to the cultural significance of gold in India, set into the front of the bottle is a metal coin, which takes its inspiration from old coins of the Gupta dynasty, when gold was in abundance. The branding is intentionally minimal in order to pare back the striking bottle shape and bold flavour led colour coatings, with a font pairing to further the message of modern British meets Indian heritage.
